Ancient Rome Games
It is generally accepted that the Rome was originally founded between 771 - 773 BCE, however its days of Empire were to await until the rule of Augustus Caesar, who became its first
emperor in 27BC, however, Rome had effectively been an empire since the 6th
Century BCE as it expanded across the Italian Peninsula then outwards into Europe from the 3rd century BCE onwards.
Alongside ancient Rome came the figure of Alexander III of Macedonia, better known as Alexander the Great, who
succeeded the throne of Macedonia at the age of twenty and went on to forge an empire that encompassed Greece, north-east
Africa and as far east as India. History will never know what would have happened if he had turned his attention to the west as the embryonic Ancient empire of Rome was developing, however despite Alexander's
achievements, over a hundred years after his death the Republic of Rome started a series of wars against his territories in the Macedonian Wars of 214 - 148 BCE effectively ending the
Greek Kingdoms influence as major powers.
