Roman Fighting Games
We tend to think of the word "Gaul" as referring to modern day France, but in Roman times it covered a much wider area including France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland and even parts of Germany and Italy itself. Half a century before the Roman Invasion of Britain, the developing
Roman Empire had already made incursions into Gaul by 121 BCE and the conquest of Gaul was almost completed under Julius Caesar during the Gallic Wars of 58-51 BCE. The Roman Empire reached its zenith in the second century with Gaul reduced to provincial status however by the 4th and 5th centuries, the Roman Empire was deteriorating and its rule over Gaul effectively ended at the Battle of Soissons in 486 CE.
In this Roman fighting game you have to protect the empire from invading Gauls angry at the Roman Empire for failing to protect its flourishing food, wine and pottery trade from devastating Barbarian raids during the 3rd century CE. Its quite a sophisticated game with many levels and dimensions, and although the graphics are quite chunky with no reference to realism, its still a great game to play with a full tutorial and the fighting game starts as the Gauls attempt to takeover a Roman Outpost. Let the fighting begin!
